Departing London
Our hotel was kind enough to allow us to grab a few items for breakfast early as we were leaving before the scheduled breakfast time. We arranged a taxi the day before with the hotel to King's Cross Station since the down escalator at the Underground station was broken and we didn't want to carry our bags down the super steep stairs during the busy morning. We had booked our train tickets in advance and had spent a little extra to get first class tickets. Since we had first class tickets, we had access to the first class lounge at the station, which had some snacks and drinks to enjoy while we waited to board the train.
Once on the train, we had breakfast and enjoyed a smooth ride to Edinburgh. It was a nice way to see the English countryside. The trip took about 4 hours and we arrived in the heart of Edinburgh. It was about a 25 minute walk from the train station to our hotel - which was the first hotel of the tour. We arrived in time to hear the 1 o'clock gun go off as we made our way down Princes Street.
